we thinks it's the Best Biking Anywhere for whatever you want to do.
Road Biking Think Dorset or the Chilterns, without the traffic or overcrowding.
Light Traffic on the roads. It's True! Traffic Density in Brittany is really light.
Courteous Drivers! Yes Really. When the occasional driver does turn up, they might give a little warning toot just to let you know they are there. Not aggressive but trying to let you know what is going on.
Good roads. By and large you will be on rural roads, with good fast surfaces. There are thousands of miles of quiet roads for you to explore.
Just the right mixture of villages to keep you interested.
Great cafes. Most villages have a workman's cafe open at lunch time Mon-Friday. Bretons take their food seriously...... Expect to pay around 10 euros for starter, main course, (sometimes with a choice) sweet, cheese coffee and vin compris! You would probably want to take it easy for the next few miles!
Lots of places selling really good coffee, aperatifs, beer, snacks. The French are generally very friendly, and will like as not be interested in your bikes. Not all French people speak English, but an awful lot can make themselves understood. If you want to try out your French we have always found them appreciative
Lots of Historical artefacts lying around to keep you interested. The area in the past was Gallic, and if you look you will find it. The French even think the round table and King Arther's Knights happened in France. Lots of the Ports are worth a day's cycle ride out.
Good climate. If you want a guaranteed swelter in 40 plus degree heat this isn't for you. If you like freezing with rain pouring down your back, go to Scotland or Wales! The spring summer and autumn temp. in Brittany is generally condusive to putting in lots of miles without worrying about lactic acid lock up because your muscles are frozen, or dehydration from excessive heat. Most places in France sell water cheaply, we often pick our drinks up en route. Obviously we can't absolutely gurantee the weather, but the cycling here is the best we have ever found.
Beaches are not crowded if you want a day in the sand.
Your never far from a puncture repair outfit. Even if you are caught without your back up.
France is bike mad <this is a video of an event that went past the front door! Only click it if you have broad band!

Faster Daddy!
If in the unusual event one of the locals doesn't come to your aid, wander into any supermarket. There will be a large section of Bike Stuff. Most of it good value for money, if the stuff to get you home isn't there your bike is in big trouble.
We can direct you to some killer hills if you like. We can let you know the easier routes if you don't like. It's not Holland either. Mile after boring flat mile. France has plenty to keep you interested, and a way of life that is quite frankly to be envied.
Off Road.
There are hundreds of tracks for you to get muddy on. We haven't found any mountains for you downhill madmen yet, but everything else seems to be there. Take a track and follow it. We have never had a problem. A few don't go anywhere, but most do.
The French also have a system of Voie Verts. These are disused railway lines. Being railway lines they are mostly flat with only gentle slopes, and they go for miles.
